FAQs

What is an Encumbrance Certificate (EC)?

An EC is an official certificate confirming that a property has no registered financial or legal encumbrances (mortgages, disputes) for the period specified. Get an EC from the Sub-Registrar's office for at least 13 years before selling or buying.

What if I have lost my original sale deed?

You can apply for a certified copy of the registered document from the Sub-Registrar's office where the original was registered. Your property lawyer can assist with this process.
