Definition

A floor plan is a scaled architectural drawing showing the layout of rooms, walls, doors, windows, and spaces within a building as viewed from above (a top-down view).

Explained Simply

A floor plan shows the spatial arrangement of all rooms and functional areas on each floor. It shows wall positions, door and window locations, room dimensions, bathroom fixtures, kitchen layout, and staircase position. The floor plan is the primary document for understanding how a building is organized and used.
